    What is Foster Care?

Foster care provides temporary care in a safe, nurturing, family environment for children and youth who can no longer be with their family. Foster caregivers work as part of a CCAS team to establish a permanent plan for each child in care. The initial plan explores opportunities and strategies to safely reunite a child with his/her family. Approximately 90% of our foster care placements are short-term, with most children able to return home within weeks or months.

CCAS has approximately 180 foster homes and is one of seven Central Ontario Children's Aid Societies joined in a collaborative effort, Homes for Kids, that is dedicated to increasing the number of quality foster homes and ensuring long-lasting excellence in foster care.
